Granary bread

I made Granary Bread today. I want to get my teenagers away from the factory produced white bread. Factory bread is made with the Chorleywood process, with lots of additives, lots of yeast and quickly processed.

Although my husband and I love wholemeal, seeded bread, the teenagers are not that keen. So I try to make a healthier loaf at home, still with white flour but add in some healthier ingredients

Here I have used strong unbleached white bread flour and granary flour and I have also added some instant porridge oats because it has been fortified with lots of vitamins and gives the bread a nice texture. The only other additions are water, yeast, a pinch of salt (not as much as a factory bread)

It is not hard to make bread, you just need to get a feel for the flour/water/yeast ratio, knead the dough, add what you want, let it rest, bake and you have the most delicious impressive home made bread. The only thing is, it is so good, it won't last long!
