Scandinavian countries cope with heavy snow, America/Canada cope with heavy snow, so why is it always such a surprise to us and brings the whole country to a standstill? Maybe there isn't enough investment in equipment to deal with it because it is so unpredictable. We have tried to dig ourselves out but there is so much of the white stuff and my back is aching already.
Anyway, we as a family are very lucky, I have food storage, although not that much and I had a grocery delivery last Friday so we can eat for a good while yet before really needing supplies. I can bake bread, make soup, I have milk, longlife and powdered, tinned goods and meals in the freezer. We are warm, thank goodness and we spend some time together as a family, lovely quiet time, no rushing anywhere, so it is lovely and a happy time.
I do however think about old age pensioners who are cold and lonely, homeless people and disabled people and how we can be of help.
